# The Activists and Citizens Forum says the first major task of new minister of Police Senzo Mchunu is to act against all those who are fingered in the Zondo commission’s report. Spokesperson Dennis Bloem says corruption and crime are the most dangerous enemies that threaten the democracy. He says crime affects everyone and no one is safe anymore, as crime is out of control:
# The DA in Gauteng says it has studied the full 196-page Life Esidimeni Inquest judgment, and it will be pressing the National Prosecuting Authority to lay a broad range of charges within a tight timeframe. The DA’s Jack Bloom says there is an enormous amount of testimony that should be used to prosecute not only former MEC for Health, Qedani Mahlangu and Mental Health director Makgabo Manamela, who were found liable for the deaths of nine people, but others implicated:
# The Electoral Court has agreed to the Electoral Commission’s request to hear the MK Party matter challenging the election results despite the party withdrawing its application. The IEC says the notice of withdrawal was irregular, and the case should be heard so the allegations of vote rigging can be publicly ventilated and tested. MK claims it was robbed of votes in the general elections. The matter has been set down for a virtual hearing on the 29th of July.
# Soccer: German striker Thomas Mueller has announced he was drawing a line under his 14-year career with the national team following the conclusion of Euro 2024. He played 131 national team games and scored 45 goals. Mueller, who turns 35 in September, was a key member of the German team that won the 2014 World Cup, beating Argentina in the final after extra time.

Gold sells at two-thousand-438-dollars-64-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 84-dollars-19-cents a barrel.
# And finally: Award-winning singer Billie Eilish has become the latest celebrity to read a CBeebies bedtime story. The programme has been a staple for the UK’s CBeebies channel, introducing children to a world of stories through beautiful, interactive story experiences. Eilish read This Moose Belongs to Me by author and illustrator Oliver Jeffers. Other star musicians who have read a CBeebies bedtime story include Harry Styles, Elton John, Dave Grohl, Ed Sheeran, and Dolly Parton.
