# Nine-day-old missing boy Mogamat Imaad Shamar has been found unhurt in Tafelsig in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town. Police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk says a multi-disciplinary crime team worked tirelessly since a case of kidnapping was registered with Bellville Police Station on Saturday. He says the baby was abducted at a local shopping complex:
# The South African Police Service has launched its first-ever e-Recruitment drive for five-thousand-500 trainee positions. The drive will run until the 18th of next month. Spokesperson Amanda van Wyk says recruits will undergo rigorous assessments before starting nine months of training, and they will receive a monthly stipend:
# The City of Tshwane has taken legal action to stop private fire services operating without approval. The municipality says companies like Fire Ops SA and Fidelity Securefire are breaking the law, drawing water from city hydrants without permission, and disrupting emergency responses. The city’s Lindela Mashigo says only the city has the constitutional authority to provide fire services and warns that these private operators are focusing only on wealthy areas:
# Following weeks of relative silence after clashing with Donald Trump, Elon Musk has warned the US president’s so-called big beautiful bill will increase national debt. The world’s richest person has stepped up attacks on Trump’s proposed tax and spending bill, weeks after a spectacular fallout between them. # Tennis: Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva asked for a spectator to be removed after expressing concerns about his behaviour during her first-round match at Wimbledon. At the start of her encounter with American Amanda Anisimova, the 30-year-old approached the umpire to report the spectator, describing him as crazy and dangerous. It was not immediately clear what action was taken, but play resumed after the chair umpire consulted security personnel. A visibly emotional Putintseva lost 6-love, 6-love within only 44 minutes.
