He met with the leaders that form the coalition government last week. In his weekly newsletter, the president says ministers and deputy ministers are making headway in confronting the challenges the country faces. Ramaphosa says they recognise that the parties in government represent a range of political and ideological perspectives, and differences between the parties will become more apparent at times.

US media has named the suspect as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. He is said to have tried to recruit foreign fighters to join Ukraine’s war effort and had been in Kyiv. Trump was not harmed. Secret Service agents shot at Routh as he tried to flee after being spotted near where the former president was playing golf in Florida.
# Rugby: Argentina will be without experienced centre Matías Orlando in Saturday’s Rugby Championship clash against the Springboks in Santiago. The 32-year-old, who has yet to feature in this year’s competition, is struggling with a muscular injury. Head coach Felipe Contepomi has called up 21-year-old uncapped wing Santiago Pernas as Orlando’s replacement. Pernas was outstanding in Super Rugby Americas and was named as the best back of the season in the league.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Litha Mpondwana, says the book will be at the office of the Department of Public Enterprises in Pretoria until Gordhan’s funeral on Thursday:
