# The Airports Company South Africa has declared the incident site of the George building collapse a no-fly zone. This follows reports of a private drone flying over the rescue zone this morning. The George Municipality says the no-fly zone restriction will be strictly enforced, and any people found violating it will be subject to criminal prosecution. Nine construction workers have died following Monday’s collapse, with 44 still unaccounted for.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for South Africa’s largest construction event, Big 5 Construct South Africa, from the fourth to the sixth of June. The country’s construction market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of over three-percent from this year to 2027. The event’s construction portfolio director, Mehtap Gürsoy, says the country’s construction sector growth projection is thanks to the government’s National Development Plan:
# The DA’s premier candidate in Gauteng, Solly Msimanga, has equated the burning of the digital flag to the country’s deteriorating condition. At the Rescue SA Tour in Soweto, he accused the government of shattering the dreams pledged in 1994. Msimanga says the ruling party operates in fear and desperation. He reiterates the DA’s commitment to rescuing South Africa from issues like gangsterism, crime, poverty, and unemployment:
# Soccer: South Africa dominated the inaugural COSAFA awards held in Johannesburg. Men’s Coach of the Year went to Mamelodi Sundowns’, Rulani Mokwena, while Banyana Banyana’s, Desiree Ellis, won the Women’s Coach of the Year. Sundowns’ players Ronwen Williams, Thapelo Maseko, and Andile Dlamini, won Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Men’s Most Promising Player, and Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year respectively. # And finally: The American Museum of Natural History in New York is showcasing over 80 iconic jewellery pieces from five decades of hip-hop until January next year. The exhibition, titled Ice Cold: An Exhibition of Hip-Hop Jewellery, features pieces such as Nicki Minaj’s diamond set Barbie pendant, Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella diamond medallion, and A$AP Rocky’s necklace. The museum’s president, Sean Decatur, says the jewellery being showcased is an important part of hip-hop history and hip-hop culture:
