# Former National Assembly speaker, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, says the ANC abused its parliamentary majority when it rejected the Section 89 panel’s report that president Cyril Ramaphosa may have violated his oath of office in connection with the 2020 theft of foreign currency at his farm, Phala Phala. Last week, the Constitutional Court ruled the failure to adopt the report was irrational and invalid. Mapisa-Nqakula told the African Renaissance podcast she is ashamed:
Meanwhile, at least 15-million-rand was stolen from the farm and not the nearly ten-million-rand that was declared. This is according to News24, which has obtained the finances of Imanuwela David. He is charged alongside two others with stealing the cash, which was in dollars. According to Ramaphosa’s submission to the panel, roughly 9.5-million-rand was stolen. News24 reports police have been able to connect David to cash deposits or direct cash transactions totalling nearly 15-million-rand in 2020 and 2021 alone.
# Cape Town’s disaster operation centre is monitoring the impacts of the second frontal system which has made landfall this morning, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The centre’s spokesperson, Charlotte Powell, says they have also logged reports of roofs being blown off in Mitchells Plain and Hanover Park:

# Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the joint US-Israeli war on Iran has accomplished a great deal, but it’s not over. US president Donald Trump rejected an Iranian response to a US peace proposal as totally unacceptable. Netanyahu told CBS-60 Minutes Trump agreed with him on the importance of removing Tehran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which has been one of the key issues America has tried to address:
# Cricket: Five-time champions Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have been knocked out of the Indian Premier League. Mumbai suffered a two-wicket defeat to reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, leaving them ninth on the table. Five-time winners Chennai Super Kings defeated Lucknow by five wickets, as they remain rooted to the bottom of the ten-team standings. RCB had climbed to the top of the standings with 14 points, while Chennai is fifth with 12 points. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs.
