# The eThekwini Municipality says no approved building plans were in place for the Verulam temple building, which collapsed in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Two people were killed, with three others still trapped. Reaction Unit South Africa says rescue teams are cautiously drilling through debris to locate survivors. The building reportedly collapsed while concrete was being poured by a mixing truck. Mayor Cyril Xaba says compliance regulations will now be investigated:
# The Basic Education Department has welcomed the High Court in Pretoria judgement confirming its legal authority to publish National Senior Certificate results in newspapers and accredited media platforms. The ruling clarifies that this long-standing practice does not constitute processing personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act. # More than 180 migrants crossed into Poland through a tunnel hidden in a forest on the border with Belarus. According to the Polish Border Guard, around 130 of them were detained in Poland after the passage was discovered on Thursday, but the rest were still on the run. European Union member Poland has been grappling with a migrant crisis on its border with Belarus since 2021. It has accused Belarus and Minsk’s ally Moscow of plotting to destabilise Poland by encouraging people, mainly from the Middle East and Africa, to cross the frontier.

# And finally: King Charles said on Friday that his doctors can reduce his treatment for cancer in the new year, describing the moment as a “blessing” and testament to remarkable medical advances. The 77-year-old monarch was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer last February and made the latest announcement in a televised broadcast as part of a national cancer awareness campaign in Britain. Buckingham Palace said that doctors will move his treatment into a precautionary phase because he had responded exceptionally well to treatment, but they will continuously monitor his health.
