# The GOOD Party says it is unfortunate that US president Donald Trump announced not to be represented at the G20 Leaders’ Summit when South Africa will handover the presidency of the G20 to the United States. GOOD secretary-general, Brett Herron says Trump seems to have based this decision on the disinformation campaign being waged against the country by some South Africans:
# ActionSA has revealed, through official Parliamentary replies from Health minister Aaron Motsoaledi, that government continues to permit the looting of state coffers in the wake of the Tembisa Hospital corruption scandal. ActionSA spokesperson, Matthew George says the Special Investigating Unit’s interim report revealed that over 2-billion-rand was siphoned from Tembisa Hospital through 207 service providers across more than four-thousand-500 purchase orders. He says South Africa’s procurement system remains wide open to exploitation by fly-by-night companies:
# AfriForum says Gauteng’s online school placement system is leaving hundreds of parents in the dark about where their children will attend school next year. According to the organisation, parents in Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Centurion report incorrect or missing placements, with little support from the provincial Education Department. AfriForum’s Carien Bloem calls for clear and fast communication to parents about school placements:
# The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s Fire Services in the Western Cape has confirmed that the wildfire situated in the Kogmanskloof area above Ashton and Montagu remains active. The municipality’s spokesperson, Jo-Anne Otto says the fire continues to burn in a broken line along the mountain tops, occasionally moving into more accessible areas. She says the Fire Services and its partners CapeNature, will continue with active firefighting operations throughout the next 24 hours:
# Police rescued three young women, all Botswana nationals, at OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni on Friday. Police spokesperson, Amanda van Wyk says the victims, aged between 20 and 23, were reportedly lured via social media by a syndicate under the false pretence of being offered job opportunities in Sierra Leone:
# And finally motorsport: Championship leader Nando Norris continued his dominance this weekend by claiming a dramatic late pole for McLaren after yesterday’s tense qualifying session for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The 25-year-old Briton reclaimed the leadership of the drivers’ world championship by winning in Mexico two weeks ago. Red Bull’s four-time champion Max Verstappen was eliminated in the first qualifying session and seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari in the second. Norris qualified ahead of the Italian teenage rookie Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes. His McLaren teammate and title rival Oscar Piastri was fourth behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
