# Two weeks after SA ambassador Ebrahim Rasool was kicked out of the USA, South Africa’s military attaché, brigadier Richard Mapoyana, has also been given the boot. He has served in the post from 2021. According to Rapport, his assistants are also no longer welcome in the country. Spokesperson for International Relations and Cooperation, Chrispin Phiri, told the newspaper last night the action against South Africa’s military representatives comes as Trump is reviewing all existing agreements with South Africa.
# The ANC study group in Parliament says it supports and welcomes the people-centred approach adopted by the Parliament portfolio committee on International Relations and Cooperation. For too long, International Relations has been confined to the realm of elite academia and policymakers. The ANC’s Andisiwe Kumbaca says they commend the committee’s drive to establish the People-Centred Oversight mechanisms in all nine provinces:
# Western Cape MEC for Mobility, Isaac Sileku has welcomed the Passenger Rail Agency’s implementation of multiple successful trial operations on the Cape Town to Chris Hani, in Khayelitsha rail corridor. Sileku says this milestone marks a significant step in the restoration of a reliable, safe, and efficient public transport system that plays a pivotal role in the economic growth and mobility of the residents of Western Cape:
# The Tshwane Economic Development Agency is encouraging graduates from several disciplines to apply for intern positions that are available before the closing date on Monday midnight. Mayoral committee member for Economic Development and Spatial Planning, Sarah Mabotsa says the intern contracts for trade development, investment promotion, project management information technology, public and media relations, and strategy and monitoring fields are for a 12-month period and offer a renumeration of approximately ten-thousand-rand per month:
# And, Rugby: The Blitzboks managed to hold off Kenya to a 19-17 win at the Hong Kong Sevens this morning which left them in 9th place for the tournament. The score was 12-all at halftime. South Africa’s points came from tries by Shilton van Wyk, Gino Cupido and Siviwe Soyizwapi while Ricky Duartee, and Dewald Human converted. South Africa is now fourth on the international sevens series log, with 62 points, while log leaders Argentine has 68, followed by Spain with 64.
