# Julius Malema says no one will threaten the existence of the EFF

# EFF leader Julius Malema says he is not intimidated or scared by former president and MK Party leader Jacob Zuma, adding that he is ready to fight. This follows an exodus of prominent EFF members to the MK Party, including its former deputy president, Floyd Shivambu. Speaking on the party’s podcast, Malema says there is no way anyone is going to threaten the existence of the EFF and then becomes a friend:
# Deputy minister in the Presidency Kenny Morolong has acknowledged the need for additional reforms to strengthen the work of the Special Investigating Unit. Of the 297 Covid-19 personal protective equipment corruption cases across government departments and entities, 190 have been resolved and 98 officials have been found guilty. Eighteen officials were dismissed, among them two municipal managers as well as three chief financial officials. Morolong says discussions of reforms should also involve the Department of Justice and the National Prosecuting Authority.
# Cabinet has approved this year’s 16-days of activism campaign against gender-based violence, running from 25 November to 10 December. The campaign will focus on raising awareness and increasing community involvement to prevent violence against women and children. Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, told the media government aims to work with civil society and law enforcement to support victims and strengthen prevention efforts:
# Human Rights Watch says Israel has overseen the forced mass displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, in a deliberate and systematic campaign that amounts to a war crime and a crime against humanity. Gaza has seen the displacement of about 1.9-million Palestinians over the last 13 months. The organisation says the Israeli government cannot claim to be keeping Palestinians safe when it kills them along escape routes and bombs so-called safe zones. In response, the Israeli military says it is committed to international law and operates accordingly.
# Golf: Rory McIlroy says he still regards this season as a success despite failing to end his decade-long major drought. The four-time major winner from Northern Ireland is teeing off in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai today. McIlroy, who has won three tournaments this year, says even though he may not have achieved all of his goals for 2024, he is still pleased with how he has played overall:
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-25-cents and the euro at 19-rand-23-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-15-cents and Bitcoin trades at 89-thousand-493-dollars-8-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-552-dollars-54-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 71-dollars-83-cents a barrel.
