# MANCOSA’s School of Education says female leadership can still significantly contribute to the future of the South African democratic narrative. MANCOSA’s director of curriculum, Saritha Beni, says since 1994 South Africa has placed significant emphasis on education, the influence of strong female leaders in education, and the role that they can play in improving the country narrative. Beni says this will only increase:
# Airports Company South Africa says it has placed its chief information officer Mthokozisi Mncwabe on precautionary suspension. ACSA’s Ernest Mulibana says the company earlier issued a media statement indicating there were no truth in allegations of irregularities regarding ACSA’s procurement processes relating to the Automated Border Control project of 115-million-rand. However, new information has since come to light:
# The Western Cape police say circumstances surrounding the death of a 16-year-old girl whose body was found in a storeroom at Overberg High School in Caledon are under investigation. Police spokesperson, F.C Van Wyk says Deveney Nel was reported missing at SAPS Grabouw by her mother on Wednesday after she did not arrive home after school. Van Wyk says a missing persons report was completed and circulated:
# BMW is recalling over 100-thousand vehicles in the United States over starter motors overheating. The recall includes crossovers and sedans, such as the X5, X7, 3 and 7 series. America’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administrator says when the starter motor fails, it can overheat in the event of repeated attempts to start the vehicle. The German manufacturer will issue a software update to rectify the problem, and dealers will apply the update free or charge.
# Rugby: SA Rugby has sent condolences after a teenage French player is presumed to have drowned at Cape Point this week. Seventeen-year-old Medhi Narjissi was a member of his country’s under 18-team who is participating in a tournament with South Africa, England, Ireland and Georgia. He was swept out to sea during an outing with his teammates. SA Rugby’s president, Mark Alexander, says they have offered support to the French team and the teenager’s family, who are on their way to South Africa.
