Good morning. I am……..
In this bulletin:
# RISE Mzansi says minister Ramokgopa’s sustained public relations stunts will not fix load-shedding
# DA says the uncaring ANC plans to destroy 6 000 livelihoods at post offices
# And, tennis: De Minaur takes Australia to second straight Davis Cup final
# RISE Mzansi says it comes as no surprise that South Africa has been plunged into stage 6 rolling blackouts following what they call Electricity minister Kgosientso Ramokgopa’s sustained public relations gimmicks, which saw him holding rallies at the country’s power stations. RISE Mzansi’s Makashule Gana says this extreme stage of rolling blackouts will have knock on effects on the safety and security of communities; the essential work of healthcare facilities and the ability to communicate. It will also put strain and even shut down water and sanitation infrastructure and bring the economy to a limp:
# The DA is concerned about the plans of the South African Post Office business rescue practitioners, Anoosh Roolpal and Juanito Damons, to retrench six-thousand workers and close 420 branches across the country. The party’s Natasha Mazzone says this is nothing short of devastating but has been long in the making, due to ANC maladministration. Mazzone adds these interventions will worsen the unemployment crisis, as well as the circumstances of the vulnerable that rely on the post office:
# The Molopo Magistrate’s Court in North West has postponed the case against a 49-year-old woman to 6 December for a further bail hearing. Agnes Setshwantsho is facing a charge of murder, two of fraud and one of defeating the ends of justice. Police say on 16 November, an intelligence operation led to the arrest of Setshwantsho on suspicion that she murdered her relatives to benefit from insurance claims. The National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson, Henry Mamothame says she was traced and arrested in Centurion, Pretoria:
# Tennis: Alex de Minaur has led Australia into its second consecutive Davis Cup final after dominating the serve of Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori in Malaga, Spain. De Minaur earned 18 break point opportunities during his 6-4, 6-3 win. He has now won four consecutive singles matches in the Davis Cup finals. In tomorrow’s final Australia will play the winner of Serbia and Italy, a tie that will feature a rematch of the ATP finals title match between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner.
# And, to end with: The City of Tshwane’s Emergency Services is calling on residents to celebrate the festive season in a responsible manner, especially regarding dealing in and discharging fireworks. EMS spokesperson Charles Mabaso informs people who wish to deal in fireworks and display them to apply to the police’s chief inspector of Explosives for authorisation. Mabaso says according to the Explosives Act, no person may deal in fireworks unless he or she holds the required firework licence and has the written authority of the chief fire officer.
