# Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, says fugitive Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma will be extradited to the UK once all the necessary documents are signed. The 45-year-old Zimbabwean national, who is wanted by Interpol for murdering his wife and two children in the UK, was arrested in Johannesburg last week. Kubayi says South African authorities only became aware of Tshuma’s status after he arrived in the country last Sunday:
# Minister of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities minister, Sindisiwe Chikunga, has rejected allegations that she influenced or facilitated employment opportunities for members of her family within the public service. Allegations contained in a whistleblower complaint submitted to the Public Service Commission claim the minister and her deputy, Steve Letsike, filled posts in the department and their private offices with friends and family. The department’s spokesperson, Cassius Selala, says all appointments are conducted transparently, fairly, and on merit:
# The US military launched a new wave of strikes against Iran yesterday evening, hitting dozens of targets at multiple locations. The US Central Command says the military struck Iranian air defence systems, coastal radar sites, and missile and drone capabilities. Tehran targeted US facilities in states across the Gulf earlier on Sunday, after the American military struck about 140 Iranian military sites on Saturday evening. CENTCOM says it will continue degrading Iran’s ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
# Golf: South Korea’s Tom Kim claimed his first PGA Tour title in three years by winning the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club. The 24-year-old secured a two-shot victory over Australia’s Min Woo Lee to register his fourth PGA Tour title. Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre finished four strokes back in a tie for third with Britain’s Matt Fitzpatrick, Japan’s Keita Nakajima, and American Johnny Keefer. Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy finished in a tie for seventh place. Kim says he appreciates this win more, following a tough few years:
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-39-cents and the euro at 18-rand-68-cents. One British pound costs 21-rand-92-cents, and Bitcoin trades at 62-thousand-806-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-57-dollars-16-cents a fine ounce, and Brent crude oil is quoted at 78-dollars-87-cents a barrel.
# And finally, Western Cape MEC for Cultural Affairs and Sport Ricardo Mackenzie has expressed condolences following the deaths of footballer Jayden Adams and rugby player Luqobo Makwedini. Adams was a Bafana Bafana midfielder who represented South Africa in the current FIFA World Cup, and Makwedini, was a former SA Under-18 rugby player. Mackenzie says their passing is a loss to their families, teammates and South Africa’s sporting community. He described the athletes as role models who inspired young people through dedication and hard work, and leave behind lasting legacies.
