Good morning. I am……..
In this bulletin:
# The EFF says South Africa’s delegation embarrassed the country
# The SANDF clarifies the Foreign allowances for troops
# And Brittain calls for a probe after Israeli troops fire at diplomats in the West Bank
# The EFF says it is proud that its legislative and political agenda, led by leader Julius Malema has shaken the corridors of imperialism in Washington. US president Donald Trump blindsided his counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, during their meeting in the White House on Wednesday by playing video clips of Malema singing about killing white people. EFF’s spokesperson, Sinawo Tambo, told the SABC that the South African delegation embarrassed the country, abandoned judicial decisions, and at times was simply grovelling and lying:
# The South African National Defence Force has provided clarity regarding the foreign allowance structure for troops deployed in external missions. This follows revelations that the SANDF soldiers deployed to the Democratic Republic of Congo under the Southern African Development Community Mission reportedly received only 34-thousand-rand per month, despite SADC allocating 108-thousand-rand per soldier. SANDF’s spokesperson, Prince Tshabalala, says each troop-contributing country maintains its own policies governing the allowances its personnel receive:
# The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development has condemned the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old woman close to the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court in Cape Town earlier this week. This comes after last month, a man was shot and killed in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court. The department’s spokesperson, Kgalalelo Masibi, says this was not a court-related incident, and the deceased had no official business at the court on the day in question:
# The UK government is calling for an investigation after the Israeli Defence Force fired warning shots at diplomats visiting the flashpoint West Bank city of Jenin. The delegation comprised ambassadors and diplomats representing 31 countries, including Italy, Canada, Egypt, Jordan, the UK, China and Russia. The IDF said troops fired warning shots after the diplomats deviated from an approved route during a visit to the occupied city. UK Foreign Office minister Hamish Falconer says civilians must always be protected, and diplomats allowed to do their jobs.
# Soccer: Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United 1-0 to win the Europa League final in Bilbao, Spain. Brennan Johnson’s first-half goal proved decisive as Tottenham won their first trophy in 17 years. By winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou’s men have qualified for the Champions League next season. United will not play any European competition next season for only the second time since English clubs were readmitted by UEFA in 1990.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-96-cents and the euro at 20-rand-34-cents. One British pound costs 24-rand-11-cents and Bitcoin trades at 111-thousand-283-dollars. Gold sells at three-thousand-336-dollars-84-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 64-dollars-45-cents a barrel.
