Good morning. I am……..
In this bulletin:
# The EFF says reconciliation without justice is a mockery
# The Lebombo border post has been reopened
# And a 15-year-old kills a teacher and a student at a private Christian school in Wisconsin
# The EFF says the country’s so-called reconciliation project is nothing more than a facade. South Africa commemorated Reconciliation Day yesterday. The party says the ANC has abandoned its revolutionary duty to dismantle the structural legacy of apartheid, trading it instead for political power sustained by alliances with white supremacy. The EFF adds that reconciliation without justice, the return of land, and dismantling white economic and political domination is a mockery.
# The Border Management Authority says operations at the Lebombo port of entry run smoothly as holiday movements increase. The border experienced disruptions in recent weeks caused by protests linked to Mozambique’s recent elections. This led to extensive queues of trucks on the South African side, creating significant traffic congestion. BMA’s Mmemme Mogotsi says the processing of cargo on both arrival and departure is continuing as normal:
# Two drug mules were arrested at OR Tambo International Airport shortly after arriving from Brazil with cocaine over the weekend. This follows a recent crackdown on drug smuggling at the airport that has led to more than 15 arrests in the past two months. Police spokesperson, Amanda van Wyk, says this is the second drug bust in just a week at the airport:
# A teacher and a student died after a 15-year-old opened fire at a study hall of Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin. Six were injured, including two people who are facing life-threatening conditions. A handgun was recovered at the scene. Madison Police Chief, Shon Barnes, says the shooter, who has been identified as Natalie Rupnow also went by Samantha, was a student at the school. He says she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound:
# Rugby: Springbok prop Ox Nché has signed a new deal with the Sharks until June 2028. The 29-year-old, who joined the Sharks from the Cheetahs in 2020, has made 60 appearances for the Durban franchise. Earlier this year, Nché was linked with a move to the French Top 14, however, he strongly dismissed the reports. Meanwhile, scrumhalf Bradley Davids and loose forward Vincent Tshituka have also signed on the dotted line to extend their stay in Durban until June 2027.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-85-cents and the euro at 18-rand-76-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-63-cents and Bitcoin trades at 106-thousand-577-dollars. Gold sells at two-thousand-651-dollars-62-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 73-dollars-83-cents a barrel.
