# The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse urges Finance minister Enoch Godongwana to prioritise tackling corruption in today’s first medium-term budget policy statement for the government of national unity. The organisation advocates for a reduction in spending on non-core state-owned entities, calling for funds to be redirected toward critical sectors such as the National Prosecuting Authority and the Special Investigating Unit. OUTA CEO Wayne Duvenage criticised excessive VIP protection spending, as the NPA’s budget hasn’t kept pace with the growing challenges of corruption and organised crime.
Meanwhile the agriculture organisation TLU SA says given the altered political climate, the medium-term budget policy statement will likely focus on promoting economic growth and creating a stable business environment. TLU SA general manager, Bennie van Zyl, says security and confidence in the country’s economic system need urgent attention:
# Eastern Cape police are looking for four persons of interest in connection with the murder of 85-year-old Nonkosazana Manase. She was killed last week Friday while she was asleep at her home in Keiskammahoek. It is alleged that she was raped before she was strangled to death. Premier Oscar Mabuyane says three other women have been killed in Keiskammahoek recently:
