# Build One South Africa has urged the government of national unity to adopt a comprehensive plan for governance. They scored the government’s first 100 days at a 50-percent success rate, highlighting the lack of shared policy direction, resulting in delays on key issues like the BELA Act and the National Health Insurance plan. BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane warned that policy deadlocks and growing divisions threaten the administration’s stability:
# ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has told the Daily Maverick that they will respond next week to an ultimatum from the DA to help vote Cilliers Brink back in as Tshwane mayor. In a letter to Mbalula and the ANC’s head of coalition strategy, David Makhura, DA Federal Council chairperson, Helen Zille, called Brink’s ousting seismic for the Government of National Unity, and said the return of Brink was non-negotiable. The DA wants Brink back while the ANC is considering Kgoši Maepa or George Matjila as mayoral candidates.
# Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Iran made a big mistake in launching a missile attack on his country, and it will pay for it. At least one person was killed and several were injured during the attack, which Iran said was in response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and others. Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, says they have no desire for war or escalation, but they cannot sit idly by when civilians are being attacked:
# Soccer: Manchester City claimed their first Champions League win of the season thrashing Slovan Bratislava four-nil. Goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, and James McAtee, earned City their first three points in the revamped group stage of the competition, after drawing with Inter Milan in their opening game. Arsenal also secured their first win by defeating Paris St-Germain two-nil. Last year’s runners-up Borussia Dortmund recorded an emphatic seven-one victory over Celtic, while Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Barcelona comprehensively beat Young Boys five-nil.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-34-cents and the euro at 19-rand-20-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-4-cents and Bitcoin trades at 61-thousand-541-dollars-6-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-655-dollars-6-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 74-dollars-50-cents a barrel.
# And finally, Airports Company South Africa says it is excited to welcome new flight routes and additional flights to several of its airports, as the country marks the official start of October Transport Month. Next Friday, Air Botswana will launch an inaugural flight between Gaborone and Durban, with a direct flight to King Shaka International Airport. Airports Company SA’s spokesperson, Ernest Mulibana, says from the first of November, British Airways will increase flight frequency between Cape Town International Airport and Heathrow Airport in London:
