# The DA has accused Health minister Aaron Motsoaledi of prioritising the National Health Insurance Act over addressing urgent healthcare issues. The party criticises Motsoaledi for focusing on his ideological goals rather than tackling critical problems like medical staff shortages, outdated infrastructure and corruption within the healthcare system. The DA’s Michele Clarke argues his actions risk both the stability of the government and the country’s economic recovery:
# The Mankweng Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo has postponed a double murder case against a 60-year-old farmer and two employees aged 19 and 45 to Friday for a formal bail application. Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says Zachariah Olivier and his two employees Adriaan de Wet and William Musoro, were arrested after the discovery of two women’s decomposed bodies in a pigsty on a farm in Sebayeng, outside Mankweng, on Tuesday. Ledwaba says the arrests followed a thorough investigation:
# The World Health Organisation has called for the urgent vaccination of every baby in Gaza after a ten-month-old baby was left paralysed by the type 2 polio virus. According to WHO, it is the first such case in the territory in 25 years. United Nations agencies have added their voices to the call, calling on Israel and Hamas to agree to a seven-day humanitarian pause in the war to allow vaccination campaigns to proceed in the territory.
# Soccer: Arsenal’s Premier League title aspirations face an early test away at bogey team Aston Villa today, while Manchester United’s defence are set for a stiff examination at Brighton. Arsenal’s two defeats to Villa last season cost them the chance of a first league title in 20 years. After a chaotic summer at Stamford Bridge and an opening defeat to Manchester City, Chelsea is looking to steady the ship and give manager Enzo Maresca his first Premier League win at Wolves. City plays at home against Ipswich today and Spurs face Everton.
# And finally: Defence and Military Veterans minister Angie Motshekga has welcomed the humanitarian relief medical exercise between the South African National Defence Force and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. The department’s spokesperson, Siphiwe Dlamini, says the Chinese naval ship Daisho Dao, known as the Peace Ark, is conducting a humanitarian and medical exercise with the SANDF in Cape Town until Wednesday. He says the exercise is focusing on rendering free medical support to the local population:
