# TLU SA launches its Charter for the Protection of Private Property Rights

# Forestry, Fisheries, and Environment minister Dion George has praised president Cyril Ramaphosa’s signing of the Climate Change Bill into law. George called it a pivotal step in South Africa’s climate strategy, aiming to reduce emissions, enhance resilience, and create green jobs. The Act provides a comprehensive framework for national climate action and strengthens coordination with global commitments under the Paris Agreement. He emphasised the need for collaborative implementation involving all sectors.
# TLU SA says socialist rhetoric, unattainable expectations, and racially driven legislation regarding private property rights have severely undermined the economy and agricultural sector. The agricultural organisation has launched the Charter for the Protection of Private Property Rights. TLU SA’s general manager, Bennie van Zyl, says individuals and social institutions must stand together against any encroachments on private property:
# Tshwane mayor Cilliers Brink says the motion of no confidence against him is aimed at taking the metro back to the days of looting, mismanagement, and no accountability. The ANC wants to remove the DA mayor because it says service delivery and Tshwane’s finances have deteriorated during his tenure. Brink says it is clear that they want to remove him because of the new performance requirements for a waste removal contract that affects businesses linked to the ANC:
# Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has slammed those accusing his country of genocide, suggesting that such accusations were antisemitic. He delivered a speech to a joint session of Congress yesterday. Dozens of Democratic members of Congress boycotted the speech in protest of the war. Netanyahu pushed back against a claim from the International Criminal Court that Israel is deliberately targeting civilians in its war against Hamas:
# Olympic Games: Fifteen South African Police Service public order members have been deployed to assist in performing policing functions in Paris. The team, consisting of seven female and eight male officers, each has over ten years of experience in the public-order police environment. Police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, says some of the duties of the officers in France will include crowd management in various areas and patrolling public roads around the Olympic venues. The opening ceremony of the Games is tomorrow:
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-40-cents and the euro at 19-rand-95-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-73-cents and Bitcoin trades at 64-thousand-93-dollars-5-cents.
