# The Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Ministers will convene an urgent meeting in Pretoria today to discuss the rising protests on immigration and illegal foreigners in the country. There have been calls for government to enforce immigration laws and act against undocumented foreign nationals. The JCPS Ministers will finalise a framework on the national action plan to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance. They will also meet political parties and various groups, who have been involved in mass protests and community marches against illegal foreign nationals.
# The DA is considering its approach to amend the Competition Act to address anti-competitive exclusivity agreements in retail. The party says a dispute between Woolworths and Grey’s Marine, a supplier of fish, has forced the small business to close down after supplying Woolworths for over 30 years. The DA’s Toby Chance says this issue has also come to the fore after the liquidation of Beyers Chocolates, following a dispute with Woolworths over exclusivity agreements:
# AfriForum is calling on authorities to treat the investigation into the murder of an elderly tourist couple at the Kruger National Park as a matter of national importance. Their bodies were found at Crook’s Corner, where the Levubu and Limpopo rivers meet inside the national park, following a search operation after they failed to return to camp. AfriForum’s Jacques Broodryk says this incident raises serious concerns about the safety of visitors to this world-renowned heritage site:
# Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky says Russia’s use of its hypersonic Oreshnik ballistic missile to target his country must not go unpunished. Moscow launched a massive attack on Kyiv and its surrounding region over the weekend, killing at least four people and injuring about 100. The Russian Defence Ministry said this was in response to Ukraine’s “terrorist attacks” on civilian targets within its territory. This is the third time that Russia has used the Oreshnik ballistic missile in the conflict, which is designed to carry nuclear warheads.
# Soccer: Mamelodi Sundowns secured their second CAF Champions League title after playing to a 1-1 draw against AS FAR in the second leg of the final in Rabat, Morocco. This was enough to give the 2016 champions a 2-1 aggregate win after they defeated the Moroccan side 1-0 in the first leg in Pretoria last weekend. By winning, Sundowns have secured a place in the forthcoming FIFA Intercontinental Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. Captain Ronwen Williams says they deserve this:
