# The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry submitted its interim report to president Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday, exactly three months after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, appeared as the first witness. In total, the commission has heard 37 witnesses. It has received evidence from 28 walk-in submissions, and 45 of the 89 submissions to the commission’s hotline were found to be within the terms of reference. The commission is encouraged that more witnesses have come forward to assist in the investigation into allegations of criminality and political interference in the criminal justice system.
# Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, says South Africa has successfully concluded both cycles of the Implementation Review Mechanism. She addressed the 11th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption in Doha, Qatar. Kubayi says various measures, including legislation, national anti-corruption strategies, and policies, were reviewed to strengthen measures against corruption:
# Three people have been taken in for questioning in connection with the murder of Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras. The 40-year-old former 5FM presenter and Cliff Central jock was shot dead in the Johannesburg CBD on Tuesday. Johannesburg mayoral committee member for Public Safety, Mgcini Tshwaku, says police have identified a woman as a person of interest in the case. The woman is alleged to have been a former tenant at the Zambesi building, where DJ Warras was shot.
# Nick Reiner, the son of slain Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer, made his first court appearance on Wednesday, where he waived his right to enter a plea to two charges of first-degree murder. The 32-year-old has been charged with killing his parents. The LA County’s medical examiner found that the couple died in a homicide by multiple sharp force injuries. Reiner’s lawyer, Alan Jackson, has asked the public not to rush to judgment:
# Tennis: World number one Carlos Alcaraz has parted ways with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero after over seven years. Forty-five-year-old Ferrero guided his fellow Spaniard to 24 career titles, including all six of his Grand Slam titles and eight ATP Masters 1000 crowns. No reasons have been given for the duo parting ways. On a social media post, Alcaraz stated that Ferrero made him grow as an athlete, but more importantly as a person. Alcaraz will continue to work with Samuel Lopez, who joined the team last year.
