In this bulletin:
# The ANC is concerned about the allegations made by commissioner Mkhwanazi
# The DA wants an urgent debate in Parliament on corruption in the police
# And Donald Trump says Elon Musk’s decision to start a new political party is ridiculous
# The ANC says it notes with grave concern the allegations raised by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. During a media briefing on Sunday, Mkhwanazi accused minister of Police Senzo Mchunu, members of Parliament, the judiciary and some in SAPS of corruption and political interference. The ANC’s national spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu, says these matters go to the core of public confidence in the rule of law and the integrity of the country’s institutions:
The DA has meanwhile written to the National Assembly speaker, Thoko Didiza, requesting an urgent debate in Parliament on corruption within the South African Police Services. The DA’s Ian Cameron says the country will never win against violent crime until the SAPS has robust integrity management inside and out:
# The South African Communist Party has expressed anger at what it says are inaccurate claims made in a Sunday World newspaper article, regarding the resolution to contest next year’s local government elections. The article claims there is an alleged internal rebellion within the party based on the decision to contest the elections, independent from the ANC. The SACP says the article is devoid of factual evidence and constitutes blatant misinformation. It adds that the article is aligned with the narrative of individuals who harbour some animosity towards the party.
# US president Donald Trump has criticised Elon Musk’s decision to launch a new political party, saying a third party will never work. The tech billionaire announced on his social media platform X that he had established the America Party, billing it as a challenge to the two-party system of Republicans and Democrats. Trump says the one thing third parties are good for is the creation of complete and total disruption and chaos:

American Taylor Fritz reached the quarterfinals after Australian opponent Jordan Thompson retired with injury when trailing 6-1, 3-0. In the women’s draw, World number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus defeated Belgium’s Elise Mertens, 6-4, 7-6, to book a spot in the quarterfinals.
