# The Forum for South Africa rejects the National Dialogue
# And, Israel’s El Al Airlines cancels all flights
# ActionSA will on Tuesday, present South Africa’s first One-Year Review of the Government of National Unity. Marking a year since its formation, the review will grade the GNU’s performance across key governance areas. ActionSA says the data-driven report offers South Africans a chance to evaluate service delivery against the government’s own promises. The party hopes to set a new accountability standard in South Africa’s coalition politics era.
# The Forum for South Africa has slammed the concept of a National Dialogue, calling it a distraction from urgent issues like crime, unemployment, and corruption. FOSA spokesperson Tebogo Mashilompane, says the country doesn’t need dialogue but decisive leadership and action. Mashilompane argue that laws already exist, but leaders lack the competence to implement them. He urges president Cyril Ramaphosa to release underperforming ministers and prioritise service delivery over political theatrics:
# Deputy president Paul Mashatile is set to deliver the keynote address at the 49th National Youth Day commemoration at North West University’s Rag Farm Stadium in Potchefstroom. He’s standing in for president Cyril Ramaphosa, who is attending the G7 Summit in Canada. Held under the theme “Skills for the Changing World – Empowering Youth for Meaningful Economic Participation”, the event honours the 1976 Soweto Uprising. He urges stronger collaboration to combat youth unemployment through education, skills development, and economic opportunity.
# And in another Youth Day speech, RISE Mzansi leader Songezo Zibi has stressed the need to uphold the legacy of 16 June 1976 Soweto Uprising, honouring the youth who stood against apartheid’s education policies. RISE Mzansi spokesperson Mabine Seabe says Zibi has called for the fight against crime, corruption, hunger, and problem gambling, while building a fair economy and future-focused education system for all South Africans:
# Israel’s El Al Airlines has suspended all flights until at least 19 June, with additional cancellations to many European cities extending to 23 June, due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. The Israeli flag carrier had earlier suspended all flights until 17 June, with Israel’s airspace still closed. El Al said once approvals were received from the relevant authorities, it will do everything possible to allow as many Israelis as possible to return home. Meanwhile Israel’s National Security Council has cautioned against travel to Israel through Egypt and Jordan despite their borders being open.
# And finally rugby: The injured World Rugby Player of the Year Pieter-Steph du Toit was released on Sunday from the South Africa squad preparing for their first four matches of the season. The 32-year-old flanker is among six injured players who will not feature against the Barbarians, Italy and Georgia. The Springboks will also play two Rugby Championship tests each against Australia, New Zealand and Argentina between August and October. Tour matches against France, Italy, Ireland and Wales in November complete their schedule, although additional fixtures are not excluded.
