# The MK Party proposes major changes to the Constitution

# The MK Party has submitted wide-ranging constitutional amendments as part of the 2025 constitutional review process. The party wants land to be expropriated without compensation, citizens to directly elect the president, official recognition of Khoi and San languages, and the right to full employment. MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela also proposed compulsory military service for youth, nationalisation of key mineral resources, the enforcement of term limits for top officials, and the creation of a state bank.
# Police say the human remains that were found in Rust De Winter, Limpopo, last month have been positively identified through DNA analysis as Pretoria-based journalist Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Mdhluli. The couple went missing on February 18 in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga. National Police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, says seven suspects have been arrested in this case on various charges ranging from kidnapping, and house robbery, to possession of stolen property:
# The Special Investigating Unit has secured a preservation order from the Special Tribunal to freeze the immovable property located at Midstream Estate, Gauteng. This is part of ongoing civil proceedings into the alleged misuse of funds allocated by the National Lotteries Commission. The SIU’s investigation revealed that 3.7-million-rand in funds intended for community projects, including agricultural development and old-age homes, were diverted to purchase the property through a network of non-profit companies and private entities. The property was registered under Smart Safety PPE.
# US president Donald Trump has signed a proclamation banning travel to America from nationals of 12 countries, effective from June 9th, citing national security risks. The countries are Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. People from seven countries will have partial restrictions: Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela. Trump says the proclamation includes exceptions for lawful permanent residents, existing visa holders, and individuals whose entry serves US interests:
# Soccer: Bafana Bafana suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mozambique in their COSAFA Cup Group A opener in Mangaung. Antonio Sumbane scored the match’s only goal in the 74th minute, earning his side three points. South Africa’s next encounter will be on Saturday when they take on Zimbabwe, who were held to a goalless draw against Mauritius.
