# The ATM has strongly condemned what it calls the ANC/DA coalition’s latest act of betrayal against the people of South Africa. Communications and Digital Technologies minister, Solly Malatsi announced that government will ease the 30-percent Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment requirement to facilitate the entry of Elon Musk’s Starlink into the South African market. ATM’s spokesperson, Zama Ntshona says the coalition has sold out the aspirations of black South Africans, to appease billionaire elites:
Meanwhile, the civil rights organisation, AfriForum has welcomed the proposal issued in the Government Gazette. The organisation’s Ernst van Zyl says AfriForum has been a major player in the fight to remove the strict racialist barriers that are keeping Elon Musk’s Starlink out of South Africa:
# An Israeli air strike on Gaza hit the home of a paediatrician and killed nine of her ten children. The Nasser hospital in the city of Khan Younis where she works says one of Dr Alaa al-Najjar’s children and her husband were seriously injured but survived. The Gaza health ministry said on X the al-Najjars’ family house was hit minutes after her husband Hamdi had returned home after driving his wife to work. At least 74 people had been killed by the Israeli military over the 24 hour-period before about midday on Saturday.
# Tennis: Novak Djokovic became just the third man to win 100 ATP titles with a dramatic comeback victory over Hubert Hurkacz in the final of the Geneva Open on Saturday. The 38-year-old recovered from losing the first set to clinch a 5-7, 7-6, 7-6 win after three hours and five minutes on court. Djokovic now joins Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer as the only players with a hundred tour titles. He starts his French Open campaign against American Mackenzie McDonald on either Monday or Tuesday.
And in Germany the Italian Flavio Cobolli cruised past Russian third seed Andrey Rublev to win the Hamburg Open on Saturday. Cobolli produced one of the best performances of his career to win 6-2, 6-4. The 23-year-old Italian came into the final as an underdog against Rublev, and the victory will lift him nine spots to world number 26, the best ranking of his career. Cobolli will face Croatian Marin Cilic on Monday or Tuesday in his Roland Garros opener. Rublev, the world number 15, will take on South African Lloyd Harris in his first French Open match.
