# The MK Party condemns the removal of a member of Parliament
# And Zelenskyy describes his meeting with Trump as regrettable
# Police minister Senzo Mchunu says the treason investigation into AfriForum and Solidarity concerning spreading false information is being taken very seriously. The probe comes after several high-level meetings in Washington between a delegation of the two organisations and officials from US president Donald Trump’s administration. The organisations complained about the country’s Expropriation Act and claimed threats to Afrikaners. Mchunu told Parliament that the National Prosecuting Authority will determine this matter:
# The MK Party has condemned the removal of its member, Visvin Reddy, from the National Assembly, saying it’s undemocratic and unjust. During a debate over a report on the portfolio committee on Water and Sanitation, Reddy rallied the house to demand that Water and Sanitation minister Pemmy Majodina be fired, despite attempts by deputy speaker Annelie Lotriet to call him out of order. The MK Party’s, Nomahlubi Radebe, says Reddy exposed the minister’s failure to address the ongoing water crisis in parts of the country:
# The City of Cape Town says it is committed to its vision of achieving energy security, as outlined in the City’s Energy Strategy 2050. The metro is investing more than four-billion-rand on power infrastructure projects as part of its new budget from 2024 to 2027. Mayoral committee member for Energy, Xanthea Limberg, says they are proud to have successfully launched the online small-scale embedded generation application platform, which has made the application process easier for customers and installers alike:
# Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy says his meeting with US president Donald Trump at the Oval Office last week did not go how it was supposed to, describing the fiery meeting as regrettable. The US has paused military aid to Kyiv. In a post on X, Zelenskyy says Ukraine is ready to negotiate to bring lasting peace closer. He says the first stages of a peace deal could include the release of prisoners, a ban on bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure, and a truce in the sea if Russia does the same.
# Motorsport: Ferrari’s former technical director, Enrico Cardile, may only start working for Aston Martin in July. This follows after the Italian team won a local court case. Cardile left Ferrari in July last year and the two teams have been in dispute over his starting date at Aston Martin ever since. Ferrari says he already violated the non-compete commitment. It says the purpose of the relevant clause in Cardile’s contract was to prevent other Formula One teams from gaining an unjustified competitive advantage.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-48-cents and the euro at 19-rand-61-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-61-cents and Bitcoin trades at 87-thousand-850-dollars. Gold sells at two-thousand-908-dollars-92-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 70-dollars-61-cents a barrel.
