# The ANC’s Veterans League has reiterated its call for accused members of the party to step aside. They want Justice and Constitutional Development minister Thembi Simelane, Water and Sanitation deputy minister David Mahlobo, Malusi Gigaba, and Cedric Frolick to step aside from party activities. Simelane is linked to the VBS Mutual Bank scandal while Mahlobo, Gigaba, and Frolick are implicated in the State Capture Commission’s report. Veterans League’s Omry Makgoale says the ANC should be serious about cleansing itself of the corruption image by getting rid of accused persons.
# The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa calls on the national government to establish a health infrastructure fund to deal with challenges in health facilities. The country’s public health infrastructure has many shortcomings, including old and often poorly maintained health facilities needing repair, refurbishment and sometimes replacement. Denosa’s Gauteng chairperson, Simphiwe Gada, says there is a need for an overview of the current infrastructure of hospitals in the country:
# KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, says he is satisfied with the level of preparedness for the inclement weather expected from today. Duma says a satellite base has been set up in Van Reenen along the N3, where snowfall is anticipated:
# The MK Party has condemned any form of Israeli ground invasion in Lebanon. More than 50 people were killed in yesterday’s strikes, two days after Israel assassinated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. The airstrikes may have already forced as many as one million people from their homes across Lebanon. MK Party’s, Wesley Douglas, says Israel’s act of aggression is a dangerous escalation that risks plunging the world into widespread conflict:

The Russian defeated Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo, 7-6, 7-6, while Chinese wildcard Bu Yunchaokete pulled off a shock, 6-2, 6-4, win over Italian sixth seed Lorenzo Musetti.
