# Ipsos finds a third of voters feel no political party aligns with their views

# More than 35-percent of registered South African voters feel no political party fully aligns with their views and opinions. This is according to a survey conducted by market research company Ipsos, based on views of two-thousand-545 registered voters. Ipsos’s, Mari Harris, says while firm supporters of the ANC, DA and EFF expressed high levels of trust in their own chosen parties, the broader South African population exhibited low levels of trust in these same political parties:
# The Human Sciences Research Council has urged all voters to join the Election Satisfaction Survey during the national and provincial elections on Wednesday. This survey on behalf of the Electoral Commission will see the council interviewers gather data from 300 voting stations nationwide. The survey will assess voter opinions on election fairness and the Electoral Commission’s efficiency. Results will be made available within 48 hours post-election.
# Gauteng police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the murders of two MK Party members in Katlehong. This brings the total number of arrested people for the double murder to three. Bongani Mkhwanazi and Xolani Nzimande were shot and killed on Sunday night. Police spokesperson, Brenda Muridili, says the motive for the incident will form part of the investigation:
# Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called Sunday’s airstrike in Rafah, Gaza, a tragic mistake. The strike at a camp area for displaced people killed at least 45 people including women and children. The strike, one of the deadliest single incidents in the eight-month war to date, came days after the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to stop its operation in Rafah immediately. Netanyahu says the Defence Force used their best efforts not to harm those not involved in the conflict and vowed to keep fighting against Hamas.
# Tennis: Fourteen-time champion Rafael Nadal lost in the first round of the French Open. The Spaniard was beaten, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3, by German fourth seed Alexander Zverev, his fourth defeat in 116 singles matches at Roland Garros. Russia’s Daniil Medvedev battled past German Dominik Koepfer, 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, to reach the second round. There were also wins for home favourite Gael Monfils and Italian Lorenzo Musetti. Nadal says he is not sure if this was his last match at the French Open:
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-33-cents and the euro at 23-rand-44-cents. One British pound costs 19-rand-95-cents and Bitcoin trades at 67-thousand-802-dollars-26-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-351-dollars-12-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 83-dollars-4-cents a barrel.
