# Iran’s Foreign Ministry has warned that the attacks by Israel and the US leave the Middle East in an unprecedentedly dangerous position. The US claims it has devastated the Iranian nuclear programme after bombing three sites at the weekend. The ministry is calling for intervention by the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and other bodies like the International Atomic Energy Agency. Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, told CNN that the country is entitled to exercise its right of self-defence:
Meanwhile, EFF leader Julius Malema says his party stands in full solidarity with Iran, a country under siege from Western imperialism for choosing independence. On Sunday, he addressed the attacks on Iran during the funeral service of seven of the ten EFF supporters who died in a bus accident in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal. Malema said Iran must be protected:
# The Construction Education Training Authority denies claims of tender irregularities and board nomination manipulations, both of which allegedly involve CEO Malusi Shezi. According to the Sunday Times, documents by former CETA employee turned whistleblower, Tumiso Mphuthi, allegedly show that multi-million-rand tenders were granted to companies that did not submit bids. Minister of Higher Education and Training, Nobuhle Nkabane, is accused of ignoring these claims of corruption. CETA says it has investigated all claims of irregularities to which it has acted in applying consequence management to various officials.
# The Employment and Labour Department says administrative discrepancies and attempted fraud by Labour Activation Programme partners have delayed stipend payments for employability programme participants. The department’s spokesperson, Teboho Thejane says a recent review by the Unemployment Insurance Fund highlighted opportunities for enhanced administrative accuracy. He says the UIF is strengthening its review process for invoices and attendance records submitted by partnering companies, which is expected to improve overall efficiency:
# ActionSA says it will, today, launch an intensive nationwide campaign in Alexandra, Johannesburg, focused on fixing local government in South Africa. The party says the launch will take place in a community that, like many others across South Africa, has been neglected and left behind. # Tennis: World number two Carlos Alcaraz defeated big-hitting Czech Jiri Lehecka to clinch a second Queen’s Club title in London. The 22-year-old Spaniard won 7-5, 6-7, 6-2, to win his fifth title of the season and his 21st career title. Meanwhile, in Germany, Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik beat Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, 6-3, 7-6, to win the Halle Open for the second time. The 27-year-old Bublik is just the fourth player in the 32-year history of the tournament to claim the title more than once.
