# AfriForum has instructed its legal team to challenge the Kill the Boer chant internationally after the Constitutional Court dismissed its appeal. CEO Kallie Kriel says this step is necessary due to a lack of local protection for Afrikaners’ rights. Kriel says the group plans legal action and international advocacy, citing global concerns. He emphasises AfriForum’s will to strengthen community security efforts amid ongoing tensions:
# The Road Freight Association encourages companies to explore third-party rail operations and engage with the Department of Transport following the release of the Network Statement. The association’s CEO, Gavin Kelly, highlights opportunities for road transporters and the need for a reliable logistics foundation. Transport minister Barbara Creecy confirmed that the Private Sector Participation Unit will be hosted by the Development Bank of South Africa. He says that the “Requests for Information” mark a key step in securing private sector investment in rail and ports.
# French President Emmanuel Macron called an Israeli air strike on Lebanon “unacceptable”, saying it was a “violation of the ceasefire” agreed in November. Macron told reporters after a meeting with new Lebanese President Joseph Aoun that such attacks play into the hands of Hezbollah. Israel made good on its threat to strike Beirut after rockets were fired towards its territory, rattling an already fragile truce in Lebanon that had largely ended more than a year of hostilities with Hezbollah.
Rugby: : The Belfast-based team Ulster dashed the Stormers’ hopes to make it to the United Rugby Championships playoffs when they narrowly beat the Cape Town based team by 38 to 34. The Stormers fought valiantly back with 14 men when captain Neethling Fouche was red-carded for an illegal tackle. The half-time score was 17-all. This afternoon the Bulls, 3rd on the log table take on Zebre and tonight it is 4th placed Sharks against log-leaders Leinster.
# And finally, South Africa’s Three Ships Whisky Bourbon Cask has been crowned the World’s Best Blended Whisky at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards in London. The Wellington-based distillery beat competitors from Scotland, Japan, and the US. Distillery manager David Dube invites visitors to the James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington, in the Western Cape, where the whisky is crafted, to experience the award-winning process firsthand:
