# The ANC’s elections committee has attributed the party’s electoral decline to low voter turnout, poor local service delivery, and a lack of accountability. The party’s national executive committee is examining these factors and developing strategies to better understand voter needs at its meeting in Ekurhuleni. Deputy secretary-general Nomvula Mokonyane says they are exploring ways to better understand and address the needs of the South African electorate to prevent future declines:
# The Gauteng Education Department has expressed disappointment over the verdict clearing 12 Pretoria High School for Girls learners of racial slur allegations. Spokesperson Steve Mabona told eNCA he was shocked that the department learned of the verdict from the media, and not the school. He says the department awaits a full report to understand the decision-making process behind the school governing body’s ruling:
# The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority is increasing its oversight to combat illicit activities within the security sector. The authority will monitor compliance closely and potentially suspend the registrations of any security officer or business involved in criminal activities. They conduct thorough registration and criminal record checks to ensure the integrity of security service providers. PSiRA’s spokesperson, Mpho Sechoaro encourages the public to report misconduct through their fraud and ethics hotline:
# A new report has revealed that Africa could create 3.3-million jobs in 12 green sectors by 2030. The Forecasting Green Jobs in Africa report by Shortlist and FSD Africa, highlights the renewable energy sector, especially solar, as a key job creator. Major job growth is expected in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa. The report emphasises the need for investment in skills development and cross-sector collaboration to meet this demand.
# And, rugby: A penalty in the 78th-minute by new Bulls recruit Boeta Chamberlain saved their unbeaten record as they battled to a thrilling 34-all draw against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein. The two teams at the top of the Currie Cup table scored nine tries between them and the draw very much keeps both of their campaigns alive. The three log points away from home keep the Bulls three points ahead of the Cheetahs and unbeaten at the top of the log.
