The party says the ANC, Cosatu, and the South African Communist Party, is an unholy alliance, which has contributed to the high unemployment rates through deliberate economic exclusion policies. With unemployment rates soaring to nearly 33-percent, the party claims the true minimum wage for many South Africans is zero. # RISE Mzansi national leader Songezo Zibi will lead a picket at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange to address the prevalence of sex-for-jobs and cash-for-jobs practices, particularly in the retail and mining sectors. # The Western Cape Education Department says it is disappointed that Equal Education has once again approached the courts over the placement of unplaced learners. However, the organisations approached the court again yesterday. MEC David Maynier says the organisation’s new application will only be heard once the department has filed its papers:
# Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy is urging the US to speed up the delivery of military aid, saying Russia is taking advantage of the slow delivery of weapons. Last week, US president Joe Biden signed an aid package worth 1.81-trillion-rand for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Some weapons have already been delivered to Ukraine. Zelenskyy says they urgently need artillery shells and air defence systems as Russia’s army is preparing for further offensive actions.
# Boxing: South African boxing legend Dingaan Thobela, popularly known as the Rose of Soweto has passed away at the age of 57. He was found dead in his Johannesburg home following a period of ill health. At the height of his success, Thobela was the WBO lightweight champion from 1990 to 1992 and was crowned WBA champion in the same weight class in 1993. He claimed 40 wins from 56 fights, 26 of which were knockouts.
