# The minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, will host United Nations secretary-general António Guterres today for a courtesy call in Pretoria. The meeting will focus on aligning perspectives on the G20 presidency priorities, advancing the global pact for the future, and ensuring progress on sustainable development and climate commitments.
# The DA has warned that the aviation fuel supply collapse at OR Tambo International Airport could lead to significant financial losses and damage South Africa’s reputation as a tourist destination. The party is calling for a full investigation into the cause of the disruptions, which resulted in widespread flight delays and cancellations. The DA’s Haseena Ismail urges Transport minister Barbara Creecy to take swift action to prevent future incidents:
# Legal Aid South Africa has rejected former police crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli’s legal representation appeal. Mdluli appeared briefly before the Pretoria High Court. Mdluli alongside Heine Barnard and Solomon Lazarus, faces charges of corruption, fraud, and theft related to the South African Police Service crime intelligence’s secret slush fund between 2008 and 2012. NPA’s Henry Mamothame says the trial will commence next year:
# ANC deputy president Paul Mashatile says the party’s provincial executive committee in KwaZulu-Natal will not be dissolved. He was in KwaMpumuza, Pietermaritzburg yesterday, as part of campaign efforts ahead of next week’s by-election. The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng were obliterated at the May polls, moving from more than 50-percent to 17-percent and 36-percent respectively. Mashatile says now is the time for reflection:
# The Pretoria High Court temporarily struck off the roll a case involving Pretoria High School for Girls after the school’s governing body demanded Judge Mandlenkosi Motha’s recusal, citing bias over political remarks. The SGB had taken the Gauteng Education Department to court demanding the release of the full racism investigative report. The controversy stems from racially charged statements shared on a learner’s WhatsApp group. Senior staff have also been accused of alleged systemic discrimination.
