# The Tshwane University of Technology’s Breytenbach Theatre will come alive later this month, as it hosts Echoes of Ubuntu: Rhythm of African Unity. This is a vibrant multidisciplinary stage production, which blends traditional dance, music and drama to explore the rich cultural expressions of the amaZulu, amaXhosa, amaNdebele, Maswati, Vatsonga, Basotho, Batswana, Bapedi and Vhavenda. The university says the production seamlessly blends age-old traditions with contemporary theatrical flair. It will run from the 18th to the 21st of this month.
# South African artist Phillip Matlhoko from Kimberley is set to exhibit his art in China as part of the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in the Hunan province starting next Thursday. Representatives from 44 African countries, six international organisations and 23 Chinese provincial-level regions are expected to attend the expo. Team South Africa includes three others who will join Matlhoko in the exhibition to showcase their work. Matlhoko told the SABC that the exhibition is all about cultural exchange:
# Skating: South Africa’s Jasmine Coetzee is setting her sights on the Olympic Games after being crowned Junior Ladies Champion at the 2025 SAFSA National Championships. The 19-year-old who began her journey at the age of five, trains in Kazakhstan under top coaches, including South Africa’s Winter Olympian Dino Quattrocecere. Balancing university and skating, Jasmine’s dream of 2030 Olympic glory is underway.
# ASP Isotopes has entered into a strategic partnership with Isotopia Molecular Imaging to supply Gadolinium-160, vital for producing an emerging cancer-fighting isotope called terbium-161. ASP will use its quantum technology to meet growing medical demand. The deal targets prostate cancer, neuroendocrine tumors and other malignancies, removing key supply bottlenecks. ASP CEO Paul Mann says this partnership accelerates the path to clinical adoption of Tb-161, which could redefine cancer treatment paradigms. ASP also plans a Johannesburg Stock Exchange listing later this year to broaden its investor base.
# And finally: Netflix’s Adolescence won three of the four categories it was nominated for at the second annual Gotham Television Awards in New York. The four-episode series about a teenage boy accused of murder won breakthrough limited series, lead performance in a limited series for Stephen Graham, and tied for best-supporting performance in a limited series for Owen Cooper. Fantasmas‘ Julio Torres won best lead performance in a comedy series. The breakthrough comedy series went to The Studio, while The Pitt won the breakthrough drama series.
