# Boulders Beach near Cape Town has climbed to 12th place on the 2025 World’s 50 Best Beaches list, a huge jump from 40th in 2023. Famous for its warm waters, golden sands, and resident African penguins, the beach has been recognised for its magical experience. The beach has been praised for its sheltered coves and unique wildlife encounters for both tourists and locals. Cala Goloritzé in Italy tops the list, followed by Entalula Beach in the Philippines and Thailand’s Bang Bao Beach.
# Shrek the Musical is currently being staged at the new Milkwood Theatre in Durban North, KwaZulu-Natal, until Sunday. Presented by the Young Performers Project, this lively show is bringing all the laughs, songs, and beloved characters, just in time to build excitement for the Shrek 5 movie hitting cinemas next year. The show stars Lyle Buxton as Shrek, supported by a 35-strong youth cast. From Donkey’s antics to Lord Farquaad’s dramatic flair, the fairytale fun is delighting audiences of all ages.
# Limpopo premier Phophi Ramathuba has congratulated Murena Emmanuel Ṋetshiṱangani for his historic achievement at the 78th Annual Cannes Film Festival in France. He won the best African film award for his groundbreaking Tshivenḓa film, LUBUNYU. The film was produced in alignment with the festival’s 2025 theme of fighting gender-based violence and femicide. The premier’s spokesperson, Thilivhali Muavha, says Ṋetshiṱangani has placed Limpopo and South African filmmaking firmly on the global stage:
# The world number one men’s tennis player, Jannik Sinner, has launched his new foundation, the Jannik Sinner Foundation, dedicated to empowering children through education and sports. The foundation’s board of directors include Formula One president and CEO Stefano Domenicali and former chief financial officer of Apple Luca Maestri. Sinner says he is grateful for the support he has received since his earliest days playing tennis, and he is keen to help enrich the next generation through education and sports:
# And finally: Ryan Coogler’s horror film Sinners starring Michael B. Jordan remains top at the box office in its second weekend of release. The film has already made more money at the US box office alone than Disney’s Snow White. Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith came in second, followed by Ben Affleck’s The Accountant 2. The Warner Bros. video game adaptation, A Minecraft Movie, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, dropped to fourth place with Sony’s R-rated horror film Until Dawn in fifth.
