# Airports Company South Africa is celebrating after three airports have been named amongst the best in the world at the 2025 Skytrax Awards. Cape Town International Airport won three major titles – Best Airport in Africa, Best Staff Service, and Cleanest Airport. King Shaka International Airport was named Best Regional Airport in Africa, while OR Tambo’s InterContinental Hotel was crowned Best Airport Hotel in Africa. ACSA CEO Mpumi Mpofu says the awards reflect their ongoing commitment to world-class service and passenger satisfaction.
# Former Chief Justice, Raymond Zondo, has received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of the Free State. This honorary degree is awarded on the grounds of exceptional achievements and other achievements per the ideals and principles of the university. In his acceptance speech, Justice Zondo gave words of encouragement to the graduates and their parents:
# Scarlett Johansson is set to star on-screen and behind the camera at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Organisers unveiled the line-up of films that will compete for honours on the French Riviera. Johansson will appear alongside Benicio Del Toro and Tom Hanks in Wes Anderson’s new movie “The Phoenician Scheme”, one of the films competing for the coveted Palme d’Or for best film. She will also present her directorial debut “Eleanor the Great”, about an elderly woman coping with the death of her best friend.
# The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars, will introduce a new Stunt Design category during the 2028 ceremony. This is the newest category addition to the Oscars since last year’s Achievement in Casting, which will award its first prize next year. Academy CEO, Bill Kramer, says since the early days of cinema, stunt design has been an integral part of filmmaking, adding that it is only fitting to honour the innovative work of these technical and creative artists.
# And finally: Italian fashion house Prada announced it had reached a deal with US group Capri Holdings to buy its flashy rival Versace for 27-billion-rand. The acquisition will create a luxury group with revenues of over 129-billion-rand that could better compete with industry giants such as the French conglomerates LVMH and Gucci. Prada group chairperson and executive director Patrizio Bertelli says they are delighted to welcome Versace to the Prada Group and to build a new chapter for a brand with which they share a strong commitment to creativity, craftsmanship and heritage.
