# One of South Africa’s most decorated designers, Gert-Johan Coetzee, revealed his latest collection in collaboration with Disney. The limited-edition collection celebrates beloved Disney characters including Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and key figures from The Lion King alongside the Disney princesses. Coetzee says each design is crafted with the intention of making every woman feel like she can live her own fairy tale, filled with confidence, beauty, and strength.
# Western Cape MEC for Education David Maynier has congratulated two young scientists, Thiedu Du Preez and Aadil Dawood, for winning medals at this year’s İzmir International Innovation Science Energy Engineering Fair in Turkey. Thiedu, from Vredenburg on the West Coast, won silver for his project, Seal to Heal, while Aadil, from Bishops in Cape Town, took bronze for his project, Spectro-metrical analysis of urinary metabolic by-products forming as a result of exercise:
# University of Witwatersrand’s office administrator, Shalati Mabunda, has embraced the spirit of giving by providing hot meals to the homeless. In 2009, she started a monthly initiative of cooking hot meals for the homeless in Windsor East in Randburg. The initiative called In Christ’s Footsteps also honours her family’s spiritual orientation. She provides hot meals to between 35 and 50 people. Mabunda says she dreams of opening a non-governmental organisation that will help the homeless find their footing.
# The 10th annual Nelson Mandela Remembrance Walk and Run in Pretoria was marked by a great turnout. Starting at the doorstep of the Union Building, runners, and government officials made their way to the south lawns in honour of Nelson Mandela’s legacy. The Nelson Mandela Foundation expressed satisfaction with the sold-out event, which aims to support its mission of justice and equality. Gauteng MEC for Education and Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Matome Chiloane, told the SABC the event had great historical significance:
# And finally: Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady’s rare watch collection and NFL memorabilia will be auctioned off in New York tomorrow. Titled, The GOAT Collection: Watches and Treasures from Tom Brady, the auction includes the 2019 New England Patriots Game helmet he wore during his final game with that team. Twenty-one vintage and modern watches will also be auctioned off including the unique Audemars Piguet Royal Oak he wore during the Netflix special Roast of Tom Brady.
