# Organisers say the 24th edition of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival will be bigger and better than ever before as new talents, formats and stages will be introduced. Artists include British band Matt Bianco, and local stars Mandisi Dyantyi, Benjamin Jephta, and Zoe Modiga. The jazz spectacle is set to run from the third to the fourth of May at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The ticket passes for each day are priced at 950-rand each.
# Award-winning actor Jeremy Allen White is in talks to play Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming narrative feature film about the making of his 1982 album Nebraska. The film titled, Deliver Me From Nowhere, will be written and directed by Scott Cooper. According to Variety, the film will follow Springsteen and the journey of making his sixth studio album, a dark, stripped-down collection of songs that marked a new artistic direction for the rocker. White recently won an Emmy for his role in The Bear.
# Today is World Theatre Day, observed to raise awareness about the important role theatres play in entertainment. This day was initiated in 1962 by the International Theatre Institute, as a day to pay respect to and celebrate the beauty, creativity, hard work, and artistry that goes into all of the aspects of theatre production. The institute says theatre continues to be used as a way to not only tell stories and see things, but to make an impact on culture and society at large.
# The City of Cape Town has handed over an additional eleven Breaking New Ground homes to qualifying beneficiaries at the Gugulethu Infill housing project. Once fully completed the project will deliver one-thousand-and-four homes to qualifying beneficiaries and their families. Mayoral committee member for Human Settlements, Carl Pophaim, says the city is doing everything it can to provide housing opportunities to the most vulnerable:
# And finally, soccer: Former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane says he is humbled and grateful that he will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Johannesburg in July. This is in recognition of his success as a player and coach. Among his achievements, Mosimane has won the Safa Coach of the Year Award and the PSL Coach of the Season Award on five occasions. Mosimane, who is currently the head coach of Abha Club in Saudi Arabia, says this honour is special:
