# The City of Tshwane says it’s all systems go for the Wonderboom Airshow at the Wonderboom National Airport on Saturday. The metro says the event promises an exhilarating day filled with spectacular aerial feats and adrenaline-fueled performances from South Africa’s top display and aerobatic pilots. One of the highlights of the day will be a series of breathtaking flights by the Goodyear Eagles, as they take to the skies with daredevil stunts.
# Cape Town’s annual Adderley Street Festive Lights Switch-On and concert on the Grand Parade will take place on the first of December. This year’s theme is Cape Town: People of Hope. The metro says now in its 55th year, this iconic event unites people of all cultures, backgrounds and ages from across Cape Town and beyond. Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the event is the perfect environment for families, friends, locals, and international visitors to come together in the heart of one of the world’s top destinations.
# A new exhibit at the United Nations headquarters in New York City is helping to increase awareness of women’s rights through the work of street artists from around the world. The exhibition titled Street Art is Female, is a celebration of the arts’ power to foster peace and love, promote social inclusion, and champion equality and diversity. Two special sections dedicated to male street artists who support gender equality, and digital and artificial intelligence generative artists who support street and urban art, have been included in the exhibition.
# The iconic, two-time Grammy Award-winning and platinum hit makers, Kool and the Gang, will tour South Africa next month. They are famously known for their iconic songs like Celebration, Cherish, Jungle Boogie, and Summer Madness. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland this past Saturday alongside artists like Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, and Mary J Blige. Kool and the Gang will perform at GrandWest in Cape Town on November 28 and at the SunBet Arena in Time Square in Pretoria on the 30th.
# And finally: Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City’s hip Colonia Juarez neighbourhood has been named the world’s best bar by the World’s 50 Best Association. It was third on the list last year. Hong Kong’s Italian-style Bar Leone came in second and last year’s number one, Barcelona’s Sips, in third. Tayer & Elementary in London and Jigger and Pony in Singapore round off the top five. The annual list is a snapshot of the opinions and experiences of 700 bar industry experts across the globe.
