# The Charity Begins With Me children’s Christmas book drive has kicked off to a great start. Author Reinette Lombard has donated boxes from her Tippie book series, about an elephant character that helps children learn to read with engaging illustrations in their home languages. People can still donate until the 30th of November, and books can be dropped off in Fairlands, Johannesburg.

The metro’s spokesperson, Samkelo Ngwenya, says since the inception of the fund in 2008, 113 beneficiaries have graduated.
# The City of Tshwane, in partnership with the Tshwane University of Technology, hosted a successful three-day Varsity Hackathon. The sixth annual edition of this event was aimed at fostering collaboration, creativity and problem-solving among students and young professionals.
