# GENUS Africa and Ancient Odysseys have partnered to offer travellers a first-hand experience of South Africa’s wealth of natural and cultural heritage sites through two palaeontology dig vacations. One of the offerings is the Cradle of Humankind Hominid Dig, set within a UNESCO World Heritage Site where 40-percent of the world’s human ancestor fossils have been discovered. Similarly, the Karoo Fossil Dig offers a deep dive into Earth’s distant past. At the heart of these paleontological vacations is the concept of responsible tourism.
# The University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business says it is working hard to bring together cohorts of exceptional senior executives seeking both personal and professional growth. The UK’s Financial Times has placed the Graduate School of Business 31st globally in its Executive Master of Business Administration’s alumni satisfaction. The school ranked 27th for gender diversity of its students. Financial Times collects a substantial proportion of the data used in its programme rankings directly from alumni, including data on overall satisfaction and career progression.
# Triveni Turbines in collaboration with Eskom Rotek Industries awarded 18 University of Pretoria students with bursaries worth 1.6-million-rand. One of the beneficiaries is first-year Bachelor of Arts languages student Nkosithembekile Duba. Triveni Turbines’ managing director, Christo Du Plooy, says they believe the youth they are assisting with bursaries will help build the economy and the country. He urged students to remain passionate and never stop learning.
# Paramount’s horror-thriller sequel Smile 2 topped the North American box office charts, making over 405-million-rand in its opening weekend. The R-rated psychological thriller sequel is written and directed by Parker Finn and stars Naomi Scott, Lukas Gage, and Rosemarie DeWitt. Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot starring Lupita Nyong’o remains in second place in its fourth weekend of release. Terrifier 3, from Cineverse, came in third.
# And finally: Queen Camilla has granted the wish of a 12-year-old-boy whose dream it was to meet a member of the royal family. The 12-year-old boy presented flowers to the queen alongside his sister Charlotte who saved his life with a bone marrow transplant. Camilla accepted a posy from Ky, who has a severe blood condition known as aplastic anaemia. His interest in the royals was sparked after his father bought him royal-themed toys. Ky says he likes their charity work and Charles is his favourite.
