# Grammy-award-winning musician Tyla has received the most nominations for the 30th South African Music Awards set to be held in November. Tyla has bagged five nominations for her self-titled debut album, including album of the year, female artist of the year, and best collaboration for her hit song, Water, featuring Travis Scott. Kabza de Small, Mthunzi, and Mbuso Khoza have each received three nominations. Recording Industry of South Africa CEO, Nhlanhla Sibisi, says this year’s selection showcases the incredible diversity, talent, and creativity in South African music:
# Production has started on singer, actress, director, and producer, Barbra Streisand’s multi-part documentary about her life and career. The documentary will include hundreds of hours of personal, never-before-seen videos, photographs, audio recordings, and personal keepsakes from throughout her acclaimed career. Streisand says for years she has been thinking about the best way to share the vast amount of content she has been safely storing in her vault. Last year, she released her 970-page memoir titled My Name Is Barbra.
# Coldplay is set to surpass Taylor Swift’s record next year, with a groundbreaking ten-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium. Last month, Swift finished the European leg of her Eras Tour with an eighth concert at Wembley, overtaking a record for any solo singer, which was set by Michael Jackson with his Bad Tour in 1988. Coldplay’s tour next year is in support of their tenth album, Moon Music, which is scheduled for release next Friday. Tickets for the tour go on sale today.
# The Hats On for Children’s Palliative Care campaign is set to return in October. It aims to raise funds for children’s palliative care and raise awareness of the rights of very sick children with incurable and life-threatening illnesses to receive palliative care. On the eleventh of next month, people are encouraged to wear a hat to work or school, take a picture and post it to social media with the hashtag #HatsOn4CPC, and donate to PatchSA or any children’s palliative care service.
# And finally: The Wild Women on the Run has raised over 75-thousand-rand for charities during their multi-day trail run along the Wild Coast in the Eastern Cape. They donated ten-thousand-rand to Busfare Babies Birth Centre, 32-thousand-500-rand to African Angels School, and 32-thousand-500 to The Kings Children’s Home. In over 13 years, the organisation has raised nearly 2.5-million-rand for women and children in need, driven by their passion for community and compassion.
