# A six-year-old boy who was missing for five days has been found deep in a forest in Vietnam. Dang Tien Lam, who lives in the northwestern Yen Bai province, was playing in a stream with his nine siblings on 17 August when he wandered into the hills and got lost. He was found yesterday about six kilometres from where he went missing. He told his rescuers to pick him up because he was too tired to stand. The boy survived on leaves and wild fruits, as well as drinking stream water.
# The eThekwini Municipality says the organisers of the 31st World Travel Awards have given its business travel and tourism industry offerings a vote of confidence and a nod of approval. This follows the announcement of the nomination of eight top Durban business travel and tourism establishments in some of the awards’ most sought-after categories. The municipality’s spokesperson, Gugu Sisilana, says eThekwini has received four direct nominations this year:
# The City of Ekurhuleni marked a significant milestone in its commitment to invest in Early Childhood Development. It sent its ECD and library officials to training offered by the childhood development organisation Care for Education. The city’s spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini, says the LEGO Playbox training is aimed at improving language, and physical and cognitive development through play. He says educators are trained to integrate learning through play, communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and social-emotional skills:
# The One-thousand Kays of Caring charity run is making strides, with runners already having covered 558-kilometre of their one-thousand-kilometre goal. Led by David and Sandra Case and Emmanuel Makhafola, the run supports Siphila Sonke, a charity aiding vulnerable adults and children in Grabouw in the Western Cape, with food parcels and emotional support. The initiative aims to raise funds and awareness for the charity’s underfunded programmes, hoping to inspire long-term corporate partnerships.
# And, from the fifth of September, The Sphere in Las Vegas will be the home of V-U2, an immersive concert film that will give attendees a full showcase of the band U2’s visually stunning performance. The band initially kicked off its residency at the state-of-the-art venue a year ago, playing for more than 700-thousand fans for 40 dates through March. MSG Entertainment says the concert film was created specifically for The Sphere and will utilise the venue’s technologies to create an experience that is only possible in this next-generation entertainment medium.
