# The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs says level five disruptive rainy weather conditions are expected in eThekwini, down to the south coast until midnight today. The department’s spokesperson, Siboniso Mngadi, says the South African Weather Service issued a warning of heavy downpours that may result into some areas receiving rainfall of more than 200-milimetre over a 24-hour period, which may lead to localised flooding:
# The Department of Water and Sanitation says a national register of polluters will have to be partnered with other interventions for it to work effectively. The department is looking to create a register of polluters in the latest bid to curb the pollution of the country’s water sources. The department’s Anet Muir says people must be held accountable for the neglect that leaves rivers polluted:
# And finally: A community initiative based in Benoni on the Gauteng East Rand, Clean Projects, is preparing to host a waste-to-art exhibition and competition on Saturday. This is part of its events leading up to Earth Day next week Monday. The activism event aims to encourage enthusiasm for recycling and upcycling, fostering innovative solutions for environmental challenges. The event welcomes creations made from recycled materials and includes categories for various age groups.
