# Deputy minister of Electricity and Energy, Samantha Graham-Maré, together with the South African Renewable Energy Master Plan Executive Oversight Committee, has signed a pledge to advance the plan. The plan outlines a comprehensive framework designed to facilitate the inclusive industrialisation of the South African renewable energy value chain and battery storage, in support of job creation and economic competitiveness. Graham-Maré says the plan targets many young people and women, aiming to upskill and empower them:
# The South African Weather Service has forecast hot to very hot and uncomfortable conditions over the Western Cape today. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to high 30s and early 40s in some areas. The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre spokesperson, Charlotte Powell, says should the forecast hold, it can present significant health and environmental impacts. She adds they will monitor the situation and coordinate any responses required:
# And, Table Mountain National Park has confirmed that the Camps Bay wildfire has been contained after affecting approximately 25 hectares. SANParks spokesperson JP Louw says several trails, including Pipe Track and Back Table access points, remain closed. He adds around 50 firefighters remain on site to manage hotspots:
