# The City of Tshwane’s Emergency Services Department says it has commenced with controlled firebreaks in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve in Centurion. This is being done as a proactive measure for the prevention of any fire that could be devastating during this winter season. Spokesperson Lindsay Mnguni says the public is urged to report any fire activity to the Emergency Communication Centre:
# One of Namibia’s renewable energy pioneers, InnoSunsays it’s aiming to exceed the national target of 70-percent renewable energy mix by 2030. The company is known for its early adoption of clean energy solutions. In an exclusive interview with Future Media News, InnoSun’s Nangula Geingos says they plan to scale up solar and wind power projects in support of Namibia’s energy independence and sustainable development goals:
# And finally: Heat waves in the United States are becoming more dangerous with climate change. Across the Midwest to the East Coast, 160-million people are under heat alerts, while extreme heat warnings have been issued in nearly a dozen major cities, including Chicago, Boston, New York City, and Detroit. Temperatures are set to soar near or higher than 37 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country in the coming days. Meteorologists say climate change is causing heat waves to become more common, intense and longer-lasting.
