# President Cyril Ramaphosa is delivering the keynote address at the inaugural Africa Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town today. The summit is being held under the theme, Unlocking Africa’s Green Hydrogen Potential for Sustainable Growth. Discussions will focus on market approaches, investment opportunities, technology deployment, and Africa’s position in the global green hydrogen value chain. Electricity and Energy minister, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, says energy reform is essential to unlocking jobs, industrialisation, and the green economy:
# Research into edible insects by the Department of Zoology and Entomology at the University of Pretoria is exploring how to rear and harvest this food of the future. The focus is on developing cost-effective rearing techniques, harvesting and handling methods, value addition and legislation to ensure the sustainable use of insects. Professor Abdullahi Ahmed Yusuf says two commonly used edible insects are the household cricket and the yellow mealworm:
# And finally: The US Environmental Protection Agency has proposed the repeal of several major power plant regulations. These are the 2015 emissions standards for new fossil fuel-fired power plants, the 2024 rules for new and existing fossil fuel-fired power plants, and the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards. The regulations mandated that coal- and gas-fired power plants reduce their emissions by 90-percent by the early 2030s. Spokesperson Lee Zeldin says the primary purpose of these regulations was to regulate coal, oil, and gas out of existence.
