# The Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority has launched phase 2 of the Just Energy Transition Programme in Limpopo. Women in electrical and renewable energy fields will receive specialised training at seven TVET colleges. This initiative aims to bridge the gender gap in male-dominated industries, contributing to economic growth and environmental sustainability. The programme focuses on up-skilling women for emerging opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
# ActionSA in Tshwane says the substantial advancements made at the Rooiwal waste water treatment plant must be commended. By September, over 39-thousand households in Hammanskraal will receive the long-awaited assurance of clean and safe drinking water. ActionSA’s Tshepiso Modiba says access to clean water is not only vital for the overall well-being of residents but is also a catalyst for growth and prosperity:
# And finally: US president Joe Biden has signed a bipartisan bill prohibiting imports of enriched uranium from Russia. This is the main fuel used by nuclear power plants. Russia, the world’s top supplier of enriched uranium, supplies roughly 20-percent of US nuclear fuel. The ban on imports of fuel for nuclear power plants begins in about 90 days. The bipartisan bill provides waivers until 2028 for utilities that would be forced to shut down nuclear reactors once Russian supplies are cut off.
