# The Global Wind Energy Council says the wind industry is entering a new era of accelerated growth, driven by increased political ambition. The Global Wind Report 2024 reveals that the global wind industry installed a record 117 gigawatts of new capacity last year, making it the best year ever for new wind energy. China and the US remain the world’s two largest markets for onshore wind additions. Africa and the Middle East installed nearly one gigawatt of wind power capacity last year.
# AfriForum has urged organisations, engineers, specialists, and stakeholders in water management to register on its Water Crisis Portal. Environmental Affairs manager, Lambert de Klerk, says the initiative aims to compile a comprehensive list of expertise and resources to address water challenges. He stresses the importance of collaboration to find sustainable solutions:
# And finally: A 30-percent increase in the adoption of whole grains globally could reduce global carbon emissions by 120-million tons a year. This is according to a report published by global consultancy Boston Consulting Group. Grains have the biggest environmental impact of all forms of food production. The report also found that greenhouse-gas emissions caused by global grain production are greater than the emissions of Russia, Brazil and Germany combined.
