# Western Cape MEC of Finance and Economic Opportunities, Mireille Wenger says municipalities are the province’s building blocks for economic growth. # South African motorists are being cautioned about potential legal consequences if found driving with a broken windscreen. The warning comes amid an ongoing shortage of replacement windscreens in the country, particularly affecting cars damaged during the hailstorm in parts of Gauteng in mid-November. Gauteng Traffic Department spokesperson, Sello Maremane, emphasises that driving with a broken windscreen is against the law and could lead to prosecution:
# Cricket: Laura Wolvaardt has been confirmed as fulltime captain of the Proteas Women’s team in all three formats. The 24-year-old batter took over the reins in an interim capacity after Suné Luus relinquished the role earlier this year, and led the team to series victories over Pakistan and New Zealand. Cricket South Africa also named a squad of 15 players for a T20 series against Bangladesh in South Africa early next month. SA Emerging stars Ayanda Hlubi and Eliz-Mari Marx will make their debuts for the Proteas in the series.

According to projections by the Bureau of Market Research, spending is expected to rise from 19-billion-rand last year to 26.6-billion-rand this year, despite economic challenges and growing financial pressure. The impact of increased online shopping is highlighted, with potential cyber risks and electronic crime posing challenges for consumers. Retailers’ focus on Black November, offering a larger volume of smaller sales, is a trend contributing to positive expectations for retail income.
