# The Public Servants Association is calling on the government to urgently establish a special task team to tackle the growing problem of hijacked buildings. The union warns that these illegally occupied properties are putting public safety and national sovereignty at risk and have become centres for crime, including human trafficking, drug dealing and illegal immigration. The association’s Claude Naiker says recovered buildings should be renovated and made available for low-income workers.
Meanwhile the Cape Independence Party is also calling on government to come up with urgent solutions to address the increase in crime and the hijacking of buildings across the country. This follows the murder of Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock in Johannesburg’s CBD on Tuesday. CapeXIT’s Nicci Van Zyl says the environment in Johannesburg and Cape Town specifically is ripe for violence, drug trafficking, and exploitation:

# Soccer: Nigeria had submitted a petition to FIFA alleging the Democratic Republic of Congo fielded ineligible players in last month’s African qualification play-off for next year’s World Cup. DRC won on penalties to keep alive its hopes of appearing at the tournament in North America. The Nigerian governing body claims several dual-nationality players had been cleared to play for the DRC without meeting the required criteria. It contends although they have been cleared by FIFA, the DRC’s rules say one cannot have dual nationality.
